An honest opinion

By now, I'm pretty sure almost everybody has heard about Lush's miracle cream. No, I'm not talking about a fountain of youth or cure to all ailments. It's a miracle sleep cream, apparently. It caught the medias attention a few weeks ago and ever since, it's been in high-demand. As an avid Lushie (yes, that's kinda the nickname) and lover of all things like creams, shower gels and bath bombs. I just had to get my hands on this cream. Until this point, I'd never tried a Lush cream before and my fingers were positively twitching with excitement. My Nan popped into Lush one day and bought two pots, one for me and one for her. My Nan is an absolute angel. She gave it to me and, well I was excited and kind of scared. What if it didn't work? What if it did? What if I didn't like the smell?
So, here's my honest review for Lush's sleepy body lotion.

First of all. It's called sleepy. SLEEPY. The name is perfect. It's rumoured to aid sleep, so that was a thumb up from me already. I was anxious to actually open and smell it. I'm not a fan of lavender. I don't mind it in small doses but it can be quite overpowering, that's just me though. I opened it and was pleasantly surprised. It's a delicious mix of lavender, oatmeal (I'm not sure what that smells like on its own) and tonka. I'll let you know, I have a bath jelly from lush with tonka in so the scent of it is growing on me. Overall, it's a nice scent. It's the right balance. You can smell it after applying for a little while but it's not at all overpowering, as pervious mentioned, lavender and I are not on the best of terms. I like the scent.

Secondly, the actual cream is just stunning. It's a soft purple (lavender) colour that just looks so pretty in the black pot. As you can see in the picture below, there is a dusting of silver glitter on top. Yes, I was very happy with the look of this from the offset. The instructions say 'before you pop on your PJs and slip under the sheets, dip into this dreamy lotion and smooth it over your entire body.' On purchasing, my nan asked the best way to use this cream and was told that it's best when applied directly to your chest and on your nose. That way you can smell it as you sleep and don't end up going through so much cream. I chose the latter and on my first night smoothed a little too much of the cream over my chest and nose. If you try this, remember that a little goes a long way. Mine still looks barely touched. I got a few uses from the lid alone. You need a small amount. About the size of a pea, maybe a little less. I got under the sheets and drifted off fairly easy. (I don't sleep well, it's mainly very disturbed) Full disclosure, I hadn't slept well the night before.

Did it work?

Well, I definitely got to sleep a lot easier than usual. I drifted off. Did it help me sleep better? Not really but I think that's asking way too much. This cream works, it works as long as you can smell it which is why you need to apply it THE MOMENT before you go to bed otherwise your skin will absorb it and you won't be able to smell it. The scent is what the cream is really about. It helps to relax the body and send you into dreams. Strangely, I've been dreaming a lot more than I usually do which has been lovely.

What did I think of the cream overall?

I would recommend this to everybody. It's worth a try and the tub I got is only £7.95. It may seem like a high price point to somebody like me that loves a bargain but when you use as much as I do every night, it will last you for ages. I'll be sure to check back in once I've run out. It won't cure any problems you have but it will help relax you before and send you off for a good nights sleep. Who doesn't want that?

Thank you for once again visiting my blog and reading my posts.

Till the next time.
